A bunny for a cousin

DD's cousin was having a birthday on Saturday, so she asked me if I could make something for her.  Wednesday, I started a bunny and wrapped it up on Friday afternoon (just in time to send DD to the party! pfeuf!)  I'm over the moon excited with how she turned out and want one for myself!

Aint she sweet!!

YAY I CAN CROCHET!!!

As mentioned in my previous post, I finally got my stitches out.  Doc said to resume regular activity, but avoid anything that uses extreme force.  Thankfully, Crocheting does not use extreme force! :)  And so...I've been keeping busy! :)  Oh how I've missed it! :)
This one is a newborn cocoon!  (And if I had a baby to squeeze into it - it would be much much cuter! :)

This one is a news boy beret that I whipped up.

Oh so cute Elf hat!  It's much longer then I realized - but still super cute!
I LOVE this cocoon!  It's super soft and cozy too!  And went together way fast! :)

It seriously doesn't hurt! My right hand is still stiff and I'm working my way back to "normal", but my fingers haven't ached or gone numb at all since my surgery!  And while I'm working my way back to "normal" I'm thoroughly enjoying creating again :)

So many blog posts...so little time...

Holy cow it has been a while since I blogged!  Time really does fly!  There's so much that I wanna blab about, but I know I'll forget a huge hunk of it before I'm done!  Oh well - here's what I can remember...

The key to a Man's heart is...Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf!!!  Yes - you heard right!  Bacon wrapped meatloaf!  I mosey'd over to the Pioneer Woman's blog and found the recipe for this delicious number :)  Good thing it comes with a prescription for cholesterol pills!  he he  DH thoroughly enjoyed it!  (And cuz he's very well trained...he also said he likes mine better! lol  I think he was toying with me, cuz he immediately chased that with a comment on how good the bacon wrapping was;)

Happy Birthday Kate!  I got a cake order from an adorable 9 year old girlie!  I told her Mom to ask kiddo to draw a picture of the cake she wanted - and she did!  I full 3 tier cake with NO FONDANT!!!  Eek!  I really really suck at smooth frosting!  I know a big part of it is my own fussy-ness...but seriously - I really am not great at it - but - how do you say no to a giddy 9 year old??  The top tier is a rice krispie treat - the rest is marble cake :)  It was a ton of fun and she was super happy with it!  YAY FOR 9 YEAR OLD GIRLS WHO LOVE CAKE!!!  :)

Oh!  Did I mention that I had TWO Cakes on the same day??  (side note - remember waaaaay back when I said I was giving up cakes forever??  yeah - well...ummm...I'm kinda sucking at that!)  This yummy number is marble too!  And LOTS of marshmellow fondant!  Aren't the butterflies adorable??!  Kiddo's Mom brought them in for me to use and I've got so much mad-love for these things, it's not even funny!  AND I treated myself to some super cute fondant cutters (circle, stars and flowers)  I really had a ton of fun with this one too!  Youngest kiddo helped me roll out all the fondant balls (and it's a darn good thing cuz my hands were in agony by the time I was done! :(
(side note #2...see Dr. about carple tunnel (sniff))  I'm feeling pretty old these days...my hands are super super sore!  I haven't had to wear my brace in ages, but today...I didn't get to take it off even once!  My fingers are all pins and needles and it aches to open and close my hand. :(  I know I need surgery - I really can't put it off any longer...but good lord!  The idea of not using my right hand for at least 3 weeks??!!  Honestly!!  Is there anyone out there who can imagine me being on the disabled list for that long?!  I'll go stark raving mad!!!  :(  Seriously!  I'm right handed and there isn't a darn thing I can do with my left had that's even slightly creative, that I can pull off with my left hand only!  I can't even hold a book very well with my left hand!  :(

Ok - so...that's it for now...I know there are a zillion other things I meant to chat about...but I'll be darned if I can remember any of it!  lol

Crochet Quiz #2

Ever have the feeling you are being watched??

Anyone care to make another guess??  Here's a hint...it is not a sheep or a turtle. ;)

Here's the back view.  You can sortof see the stuffing through the stitches in the pic - in real life, though, not so much.  (Darn flash photography in a poorly lit room!)
And here's the side view...

Any guesses??  :)

Itroducing Luna!

I must first say that this all started with a Monkey named Marty.  Aint he sweet?! I fell in LOVE with this pattern, and because of my pattern purchase, I found out when Zeb was born! I had to have him and quickly made him mine.  As I starred into Zeb's beee-autiful zebra eyes, all I could think of was "Holy Crap!  He'd make a cute unicorn!!!"

Crochet for a cause...

I've been crocheting my brains out forever it seems. I usually wrap up my project - pleased with the results and ready to move on to the next one. To date, though, I've been chosing my projects based on what looks fun and only (pretty much) cuz it looks good to me - not necessarily for someone specific or for a specific purpose. I've decided that it's time I put my talents to good use. During our most recent trip to ER with DH, one of the ladies at the hospital mentioned that the volunteers have been making little bears for the kids in the pediatric ward. That's when it hit me - I could be making things that would maybe make a difference to a sick kiddo! I know I could make premie hats and booties...but what else could I do? My brain is reeling with all the possabilities - but I have ahabit of biting off more then I can chew and so - if you're out there - and if you're reading this post...please give me some suggestions. Pretty please! cuz I'm anxious to crochet for a cause. :)

Crochet Constipation...

Ok - this post started out as a general blab fest of the unfinished crochet projects that I have on the go...but since then, I've realized that the picture is much worse then I originally realized...I do have a ton of projects on the go cuz I get side tracked very easily...but aside from the original 9ish I started wtih...I managed to find a few more.

1st is a multi colored afghan that I'm LOVING!!! I'm really excited to finish it. The trouble, though...the more I get done...the bigger each row gets and the longer it takes to finish each row!

I'm hoping it will help chip away at my HUGE yarn stash! (admitting I have a problem is my first step - eep!)
  • Then theres... The doll I started for Maddie ages ago...she needs hair, a top lip, and 2 buttons. Procrastinate much??!
  • There's the pass the pig game for Soph...missin 1 of 2 pigs.

  • Mamma and baby turtles...Totally cute - Momma turtle is pretty big, but only her head and legs are stuffed. The shell is left hollow cuz you stuff her with her eggs that are stuffed wtih baby turtles!! Totally cute. Momma is done...gotta get babies and eggs finished.

  • an owl hat for Ava (kiddo from daycare) So far it's still a ball of yarn, waiting to become something.

  • A Monster hat for Nolee (kiddo from daycare) - matches the state of previous itme
  • A wolf I started for Maddie, then got fed up with the darn pattern - grr. Body is done...that's all, so it looks more like a drum stick then a wolf! lol

  • A "Rasberry Beret" I started for Mom...that more closely resembles a toilet seat cover - ugh! So far, I have decided to frog it and recover the yarn...but I'm not completely decided...
Hmmm...I think that's it?? (scratch head) No matter how you look at it, you'd think I'd just jump in and finish something but nope - not me! lol

Oh - did I mention that;

  • I also have to whip up a birthday present for my niece?? Ok - I don't HAVE to...but I reeeely want to! Her birthday is in like less then 2 weeks. I picked up the pattern tonight, though. he he Hey - I already took the first step - I admit that I have a problem! ;)

  • OH - and I just remembered...that doll I'm almost done for Maddie?? Yup - started a 2nd one for Soph...so far, she's a body and head with (I think) 1 nearly complete let.

What was I thinking when I picked up another hobby?? :S I think maybe I had better finish some of the items on my list before I a) get more patterns b)get more yarn c)start something new...I really hope my beret stops looking like a toilet seat cover. :(
