All in one night!!

I can get a lot done in one night it seems. :)  I hadn't quite planned to do any more cakes until October.  In fact, the 2nd cake was a request I had originally declined but was able to pull off last minute. :)

Anyway - the present cake and cupcakes were for my Boss. :)  His son is getting married and they wanted a cake for the wedding shower.  I'm happy with how they turned out and so was he. :) (pfeuf!)  The cupcakes will go around the present cake on the board for the shower...I just didn't pack them together because I didn't want them bouncing around on the journey to Miramichi. :)

The MOnster High cake...well...I think Duff Goldman changed his coloring formula because I used to be able to get dark black frosting with very little coloring...this cake, though, took the entire bottle!! :(  The up side was that because I had all the frosting and baking done ahead of time, I was able to decorate this cake in an hour and a half!  (And it took that long because the logo fondant was being obnoxious.)

Ok so...that's that...no more cakes till October!!  I mean it this time!! :)

Space Cake and Dino placement

This is my most recent cake, and my last for a bit as I'm taking a break until my next cake in October...or at least that's the plan for now. :)

I started chatting with the birthday girl's Mom a little while ago, when it was decided that it would be a CHOCOLATE (insert Happy Dance HERE!!!) Space cake.  We laughed over some fun ideas but Mom pretty much gave me creative freedom to do whatever the heck I wanted - WOOT!  And so - this space themed cake was born! :)

The base is supposed to be earth (I suck at Geography - Don't judge me!)  The pie shaped green bit with teh star on it is supposed to be Africa....please squint - you'll see it!  Honest! lol  Obviously, the next ball up is the moon.  I'm really happy with the craters but it was missing something so I tucked a little birthday girl peeking out of the moon - just for fun. :)  And What's a space themed cake without planets??  Well..this cake has 3 of them...the red planet is Mars, the blue planet is Neptune (or at least that's what I'm calling it cuz it's kinda blue) and the purple one is - you guessed it - Uranus!!  ROTFL
This next bit is my favorite part of the cake!!  :)  What's that you ask???  Why yes!!  Yes that IS a dinosaur sticking out of Uranus!!!  LOL (It's OK - the birthday Mom totally approved - even encouraged it!! :D)  The best part was after I passed the cake over.  When I was walking away I heard the birthday girl say..."Look Mama - The monster is stuck in teh planet!"  I laughed out loud - I couldn't help it!!

Best Birthday EVER!!!

Birthdays always seem to leave a mark for me.  Whether it's because something crazy good or otherwise - they always seem to be memorable for one reason or another and this year was no exception.

I wacked the crap out of the snooze button and missed my morning bus - but hubby drove me to work so I was still on time.  When I got to the office, I was met by the best birthday cake EVER!!!!  LOL

I'm blessed to have the best boss in the world - Truly he's terrific and I couldn't ask for better.  I walked in and had THIS on my counter. :)  LOL
How Awesome is THAT??!!  It was hilarious!!!  I laughed so hard - it was exactly what I needed. :)  God love him...the heat melted the frosting off and he tried to fix it. LOL

After the cake, I had to clean up my inbox.  I was frozen - I had too many e-mails to be able to send cuz a ton of peeps sent me Happy Birthday e-mails that jammed it up. lol   Overall - it was a great day:)  I got some nice cards and a couple of presents from friends at work, went for a great walk on my lunch break and at the end of the day, boss gave me a lift home cuz appearantly you're not allowed to take the bus home on your birthday. :)

When I got home, Hubby had balloons all over the front step and decorated for my birthday and kiddo worked along with him all day to tidy up the house and bake me a very yummy chocolate cake! :)  Soph was so proud of herself, and I was proud of her too. :)  At Dinner time, Hubby took Soph and I out to the blue canoe for dinner.  I ordered fish and chips from the seniors menu.  Why does everything on the seniors menu come with peas??  lol

After Dinner, I had an upset stomach so no movie for us...(we went today instead. :)  Madagascar 3 - great Movie but I would have enjoyed it more if it didn't bash Canadians. grrr! )

I spent the rest of the night in my jammies watching TV with hubby - which was still a nice way to spend the evening (even if I didn't feel so great.)

Anyway - after all that, it's official...I'm 38! :)  Here's to another great year. :)
