Normally, that would be an overshare - however - in this case, it's a blessing. The last week has been exhausting and awful and scary and nothing much shy of pure torture. Here's how the last 8 days went...
Thursday: The school called - youngest kiddo was feeling sick and needed to come home. Thursday night, she was on the up swing
Friday: Friday morning it started all over again. She felt barfy and didn't want to go to school. She was supposed to be going to a breakfast with the Premier, though, so she went anyway...and lasted a half hour. By 9:30, I was driving her home. The rest of friday was in waves of feeling barfy and having a sore belly. Friday night continued in the same fashion until we finally got her settled. By this point, it was almost 1am...and I had to be up for work by 5:30am! Groan!
Saturday: I had to work all day while kiddo was home with Daddy suffering through waves of agony and barfyness again. We made a drive by passed the ER and opted to take her to the after hours clinic on Sunday instead (too many drunks and questionables in the ER).
Sunday: We waited for 3 hours, but saw a doctor by 3pm. He todl us it was a tummy flu and to call our Dr. in 2 days if she wasn't better. Take her home and give her rice etc. and keep up with the gravol and pepto - ok - done...But the misery continued until well passed midnight and by 1am we were on our way to the ER. They did blood work and x-rays which showed she was "full" like...very very very full (nearly blocked full). We were sent home at 7am and told to give her an Enema (umm - excuse me??!!!) and laxatievs etc. it will fix it. Yeah - ok - sure!
Monday: By 11:00 she was screaming in the ER again and after a couple doses of Morphene she was finally settled (and was admitted to the pediatric ward) Monday night was awful, but she slept through the night at least.
Tuesday morning she woke up in a good mood and was happy...until 15 minutes after she ate breakfast and then it started all over again so Doc put her on an IV and off of food...Tuesday sucked! I've never heard my baby scream so loud. :( Tuesday night she needed 3 doses of Morphene to settle her...I've never felt so helpless. :(
Wednesday: By Wednesday afternoon - she was a goofball...but still not "going"...
Thursday - all day - a crazy foolish geek girl...but still not "going"...we brought her home on Thursday night...still not "going.
Today: This morning we took her with us to DH's Dr.s appointment in Hartland...She still wasn't "going"...we stopped for truck stop poutine (cuz if that doesn't make ya go - aint nuthin gonna!) Still not "going"...we head for home and when we were 70 km's from F'ton...A FREAKIN DEER DARTS OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND BOUNCED OFF THE HOOD!!!!! Yup! the hood was all dented up, but Bambi's Mom darted off into the woods. Thank God nobody was hurt! But still...not "going". So - today was a crazy blur of appointments and car estimates and calling insurance people and by dinner time she still wasn't "going"...a few minutes ago, though, I told her she had to take her medecine (which she royally HATES) and she said she thought she had to go...then the pain started again and I was reeeely worried that we were back in teh same mess all over again, until...THE FLOOD GATES OPENED AND MY BABY POOPED!!! Yes sir!! She sure did!!! And she sure was happy about it! We both did a little dance. :)
And now...she's in the tub cuz she stinks! :) I think I'll start calling her "Poopsie" :P
Too many hobbies, too much to do, too little time - Welcome to the Pospolita Project.

My baby is 9!!
I'm a little late posting this one - 7 days late to be exact! (But the zombie pic was just too cute to change :) And so - here it is…my little zombie turned 9 years old on November 1st! I can't believe I'm the Mom of a 9 year old AND a 13 year old!! I was ok with being the Mom of a 9 year old, when my other punk was only 4 or 5…but when my BABY is 9??!! That make me very very sad. :( I helped my baby clean out her room yesterday. It was a pit of filth! I'm really hoping that my kid isn't really the messiest kid on the planet cuz she sure appeared to be yesterday! I was pretty quick to toss an entire garbage bag of stuffies for delivery to the SPCA - that was the easy part. The next item to tackle, though, was the little girl toys that she doesn't play with anymore. I was surprised at how hard it was for me to let go of it! By the time we were done, though, her room was a lot more grown up and a lot more organized then before we started. Now everything has a place and she's excited about keeping it clean…although I'm sure the novelty will wear off quickly. :)
As is tradition in our home - I always wake the girls up with a birthday picture, that way - they can see exactly what they look like the minute they are a year older. :) I've pulled it off every year for each of them. :) And as is also tradition (even though there are other pics with a sleepy=fish smile that show how adorable my little muchkin was on on her 9th birthday…I have to say - this one makes me laugh just a little bit more then the others. :) Dontcha just love the sleepy face?! lol OH - and the super ugly comforter was stolen from the linen closet...it's but-arse ugly - but for $10 - who could complain?! :)
Happy belated to my 9 year old punk...from the Mom that's sad that she's growing up so fast (and consoling herself with funny pics in the mean time. :)

Birthday and Spooky cakes all around!
I'm in another cake marathon! My Cake-ee to do list is as follows...
1. A 3 tier white cake for a friends birthday - done and delivered! Check!
2. An extra chocolate (smallish) Jack-o-lantern cake - done and delievered! Check!
3. A Hamburger cake for kiddos' class for her 9th birthday...tuesday...ugh - did I say 9?? Really?? My baby is going to be 9??!! Ok - back on track. this cake will be done between today and tomorrow - but...
4. A ?? cake for kiddo's birthday with family on tuesday night - Oy!
5. A birthday cake for kiddo's party! (In hind sight - I shoudl have sream lined this a little.
6. My boss's birthday is on the 10th. I made him a Canadian's cake last year so I feel compelled to do it again. :) He's actually a pretty great boss and besides - he shares. :)
So - this is the 3 tier birthday cake. It's a white almond sour cream cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. I used pearl accents around each tier and wrapped it with irredescent sheer ribbon at the base of each tier. The Gerber daisies were an added fall touch to bring color to the cake. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and the birthday girl was happy with it too - YAY! Mission accomplished. :)
I especially like the swirly vine parts! I would never be able to do that with fondant! And - most kids don't like fondant anyway - but chocolate!! Hollah! Everyone loves chocolate!! :) I almost didn't wanna give him up, but kiddo smiled pretty big when she saw it so that (as they say) was that!

This little gem is a small chocolate jack-o-lantern cake (obviously :) with chocolate fudge frosting between the layers and iced with a vanilla buttercream. I wanted to do a little something extra for the details. It didn't seem right to use frosting for the face, leaves and stem - soooo...I decided to try my hand at modeling chocoalte! :) It's a nice change for sure and really fun to work with. I'm not a pro at it by any means...but it was fun to try something new.

I good laugh...
I think I may have been over tired to have laughed as hard as I did, but I happenned upon a few pics tonight on that thing called the internet. They all made me laugh - to varying degrees...but it all started with this one...
Hope you had a good laugh...they're good for the soul! :)
I couldn't help it! It cracked me up!
Then I saw these...and continued to laugh and giggle...
and then I saw this one and that's all it took!
By this time, I was laughing like a moron and coudn't even breath! Tears were rolling down my face and I was trying to be quiet so I wouldn't wake the entire house up! The rest of these kept me in stitches...but I'll admit - they may not have been as funny as there were to me at the time. :)
Hope you had a good laugh...they're good for the soul! :)

Joke of the day...
I think I need to let hubby out of the house more. This is the joke he e-mailed me last night. (Don't tell him I secretly thought it was funny :)
A man walks in to a psychiatrists office wearing nothing but underwear made from saran wrap. The Psychiatrist takes one look at him and says..."Well - I can clearly see your nuts!"
Badom-bom! Groan if you must. :)

Jonah's Smurf cake!!
Last year, I made a Mario cake for Jonah's Birthday. This year, Jonah asked for a smurf cake and I'm freaking out crazy in LOVE with it!!! I'm so pleased with how it turned out :) What a ton of fun to put together too! :) The inside cake is rainbow (minus pink and purple for obvious reasons. ) The dirt is chocolate frosting with crushed chocolate chips and the sand is graham crumbs. :)

Time for a cuteness break!
Forgive me while I gush over the adorable-ness! Imagine!! Only 9 months old and already the cutest baby in the Universe!!! Aint she sweet?! :) This is my niece "Squid" or "Chicklet" as my Dad calls her (cuz she was born with her 2 bottom teeth). Her birth certificate, though, sez her name is Sydney...but I like "Squidney" best. :) Only 84 more sleeps till I get to see her again! YAY!

Beenawhile...
I'm a bad blogger!! I can't believe a month has passed since my last post! Well...here are my updates...
- Satellite dog is doing much better and is no longer wearing the cone - pfeuf cuz it was reeeely annoying! And yay! She's de-activated so no possible drooly puppies!!
- Matt the cat is now known as Ninja cat...and a dust mop. Kiddo gets mad when I call him 'Ninja-cat' but it's what he is! He's a total ankle ninja! But he LOVES Daisy! They get along very well and Daisy pushes him around the living room while he sleeps on the hardwood floors...so he gets up and is pretty dirty on one side :) It's fun to watch!
- I got a jump on my Christmas cards and have already made 60! Wheee!
- I made an NHL cake and it turned out pretty great! :)
- Hmmm...what else?? Oh - girls started school and they are both loving it!!
- Back to violin lessons too, but youngest kiddo has also joined Judo. should be fun!
- Oldest kiddo is still adjusting to being big kid on campus in middle school...I think she's too worried about being the little kid next year to enjoy being the big kid this year. :(
- All the new goldfish are dead - I know! I was shocked too! (not really)
- I've decided to take up spinning and have 3 huge bags of raw wool to work with...I'll post more on that later.
- I have to do a smuf cake for next weekend - yay!
- my hand hurts
- And...I have another 100 cards ready to assemble!
Ok - that's it for now...pinky swear I won't wait another month before posting again. :)

The coolest eyes!!
My kid has the coolest eyes! When she was little, they were blue blue blue for the longest time! When they hadn't changed from blue by the time she was two, I was tickled excited that I (a brown eyed girl) had a blue eyed girl. But then...it happenned. The change began. They shifted with her mood and the lighting and any other force around until finally they ended up somewhere between green and brown and blue with a little gold, some grey and a few other freckles of neatness. Having a blue eyed baby would have been wonderful, but Hazel is pretty stinking cool and quite frankly, I think that Hazel kicks blue's a&$ any day!! :)

Joy stick!
When I was a kid, I wanted a Joy stick. You know what I'm talking about - it was a promo with Joy dish detergent. You could send it x number of proof of purchases and they'd send you a giant bubble making "Joy stick"!! Well...I never got one cuz Mom bought a dishwasher which didn't take joy, and Nan was a die-hard palm olive user. Gone was my dream.
Recently, though, I had teh chance to live out my dream when we went to the dollar store!!! There it was in its fluroescent orange splendor. It had a different name, but the principle was the same :) It was , for all intents an purposes, a joy-stick!!! $2. +tx later, we were outta there and the kids had no idea why I was so giddy over a big plastic tube!!!
That weekend, I was the coolest Mom on the block! (cept for the not living on a block part :) We used the recipe on the pack and made our bubble solution for giant humungo bubbles. The rest, as they say, is history! Both the girls had a blast making ginormous bubbles!! and I have to admit...so did I!
Dontcha just love that face!! That's a face havin fun is what that is! Yup! Lots and lotsa fun! :)

A bunny for a cousin
DD's cousin was having a birthday on Saturday, so she asked me if I could make something for her. Wednesday, I started a bunny and wrapped it up on Friday afternoon (just in time to send DD to the party! pfeuf!) I'm over the moon excited with how she turned out and want one for myself!
Aint she sweet!!

And on the 8th day, God made Cannolis!
If you have never had a Cannoli, you must MUST try one!! I got sucked in by Cake Boss, watching them make hundreds of them on Cannoli day. Then, my BIL & SIL brought us home one from Carlos Bakery last year. Even though it had spent a couple of days in the fridge it was WIH-KED! So, I had to try them for myself. I will post a couple pics in the morning, cuz it's after 1am and I'm sleepy - but - you will totally want to whip up a batch for yourself!! Oh - and I had to use a dollar store mop to make them! :)

I got a motorcycle today!!!
Ok Ok - She's missing a few parts and isn't a "real" motorcycle YET...But she will be and I'm gonna build her! :)
This real bike belongs to DH. I have never much cared for motorcycles, until I met this one! She's a 1971 Triumph Bonneville and she is soooper cool!
DH got her when he was 17! I wont' tell you how long ago that was though. ;) For the first few years that DH and I were together, she sat untouched. Not sure why, I guess life got in the way. A couple of years ago, though, I registered and insured her and nudged him to start her up again and in the process created a monster! lol He LOVEs working on his bike. He's alot like me though, so once he starts something he enjoys, good luck getting his attention! :) I have really enjoyed watching him work on her and have learned a ton in the process - including - British bikes are way cool! :)
And now, my journey begins with "Nessy". She's the bones of a 1971, just like DH's bike and needs to be built from the ground up. I have no clue what I'm doing (and can't even ride a motorcycle) but DH knows more about her then the people who built her so I've got a great teacher. :)
I will make my list and work away as we find the parts...and at some point during this resurrection, I'll need to learn how to drive her and get my bike license!! Good Lord! What was I thinking?? lol Oh yeah - British Bikes are waaay cool!! :) Ironically enough, I am pretty sure that the biggest challenge will be finding a helmet that fits my giant head!
Here is where my list begins...
1. Get bike frame - check!
1. Get bike frame - check!
2. Find serial number so that she can be registered - check!
3. Sand blast and paint the frame
4...I guess we'll wait and see :)
Deadline?? Hmmm...Let's say - before my 40th Birthday. :)
You know...I'm sure that many people would tell me I'm crazy, but who doesn't already know that?? :)

Wolf cake
I've been sorting through some pics and realized I missed another one!
On April 23rd, I became the proud Mom of a teenager!! AUGH! How can this happen?! I'm much to young to have one of those creatures! Thankfully - mine is a good kid and I still like her a bunch :) For her birthday, I asked her what kind of cake she wanted, and her answer was quick - a wolf cake! Hmmm...a wolf cake?? Yup - and rainbow batter! hmmm - ok - done!

I googled a bunch of ideas for a wolf cake and came up short - so I decided to wing it. I started with the rainbow batter cuz I knew I could pull off that part - and - the head was going to have to be carved...so I knew what pans to use too - that part was easy. While it was baking, though, I screwed on my thinking cap and started to sketch out what a wolf cake should look like. This was my end result and she was pretty happy with him so I'd consider it a win! :) (I especially like his toofers! :)
Boston Bruins cake
I made this cake on June 22nd...and forgot to post it! The funny story behind this one, is that my Boss's boss asked me if I could squeeze one more cake in before my surgery. Sure! No prob! He asked me this on Tuesday, June 21st. He gave me all the details etc - how many people it was for, flavor etc. Too easy! That gave me a week to get it done and I could do THAT in my sleep! :) I told him I'd make a vanilla pound cake, but marble the inside with black, yellow & white! Done! Then he added "As long as he can have it before the last day of school, anytime is fine." Huh?? CRAP!! He wanted it for his son to take to school...and Friday is the last day of class, sooo - that meant I had to take it in by Thursday at the latest, which meant...I'd be decorating a cake for someone else - on my birthday! Oh well :) I really didn't mind. We didn't have much for plans anyway, so it was all good :) I had to run in town to pick up a heavier box, but other then that - it was off without a hitch and I wrapped it up just before 1am! :) It turned out great and everyone LOVED it!! WHOOT! Another happy customer! :)
As a side note...transporting an 18" round cake that weighs easily 20lbs on the city bus is not ideal! :)

YAY I CAN CROCHET!!!
As mentioned in my previous post, I finally got my stitches out. Doc said to resume regular activity, but avoid anything that uses extreme force. Thankfully, Crocheting does not use extreme force! :) And so...I've been keeping busy! :) Oh how I've missed it! :)
This one is a newborn cocoon! (And if I had a baby to squeeze into it - it would be much much cuter! :)
Oh so cute Elf hat! It's much longer then I realized - but still super cute!

This one is a news boy beret that I whipped up.
Oh so cute Elf hat! It's much longer then I realized - but still super cute!
I LOVE this cocoon! It's super soft and cozy too! And went together way fast! :)
It seriously doesn't hurt! My right hand is still stiff and I'm working my way back to "normal", but my fingers haven't ached or gone numb at all since my surgery! And while I'm working my way back to "normal" I'm thoroughly enjoying creating again :)

Franken-hand
Wanna see sumthin gross?? Of course you do!! :)
SEE! Toldja! I got my stitches out this morning and what a relief!! It stung a little with a couple of them, but was virtually painless. Then I soaked them with vitamin e oil (hense the sheen from the pic) and am hoping they soften up quickly. It still feels a little stiff and tight, but overall I'm almost 50% back to normal as far as range of motion and use goes. I know I could do more with it, but I'm still favoring it (and trying hard not to) Doc sez I should use it and resume regular activities (but avoid anything with force). Back to work in 2 weeks though - darnit! :)
Anyhoo - just to force myself back to using it, (our car is a standard) I'm heading to the dog park with Crayzee May cuz she's driving me bazurk! She's got a serious case of cabin fever and broke her rope outside. Also - she's been tearing through the house like a 120lb rocket powered bull-dozer!! Scorching heat and humidity be damned!! Poochie is going to the park! lol
Oh and dont' tell anyone, but...I managed to whip up a half crochet cocoon and a hat in the last 2 nights! WHEEEEE!
Ok - that's all for now :)

They have been missing since teh 28th of June when I had carpal tunnel surgery - but for a brief moment...I hadem back! :) AND my hand is slightly more useful then decorative today. :) Please cross your fingers that it will be all up hill from here...and as soon as I'm able to cross mine, I'll take over. :)

Cookies with 1 hand...
yup! turns out I can bake cookies with 1 hand! It takes twice as long...but that gives just enough time to eat the 1st batch before the 2nd batch comes out of the oven! :)

Exposed and nasty!
I got to unwrap my hand today! YAY! Cept...havin a queezy stomach made me wanna wrap it back up in a hurry! I have clean new band aids on both of my wounds - which feels worlds better then the splint/cast that was on it. I'm also typing with 2 hands again! YAY! Cept I'm pretty slow still cuz my hand is super swollen...like we're talking SWO-LLEN!! Seriously! The incredible hulk has dainty girl-ish hands compared to my right one! and it feels totally weird - like foreign almost. I don't like it - but it's better then it was. If I can get the swelling under control, I'll be cookin with gas! (figuratively that is...my stove is electric ;) I'll post a pic as soon as I find the camera. :)

My hand hurts...
Yesterday I had surgery on my right hand for carpal tunnel...and my hand reely hurts. Not as much as it did yesterday, though. Wanna know why? Cuz appearantly I have a high tolerance to local anasthetic! crap! Poor doc! I heard him say That he had already given me too much...but I could still feel the cutting and pulling! :( I am sooo not in to being 1 handed...and I suck at typing with my left hand. :( And I still need to have the left hand done! Doc refused to do it with a local though. Thank God!

The unfotunate condition of being a meat head!
Daisy is a meat head! A big one!! For days, we've been trying to introduce Matt the Cat to Daisy the dumb saint bernard and it hasn't gone well. Why? cuz Daisy is a meat head! Matt the cat is completely willing to have Daisy in his space. He sits politely and they touch noses and sniff and Matt the Cat doesnt' bat an eye! The problem happens when the Meat Head gets so excited that she wants to climb on top of Matt the Cat and sniff him all over and squeel and play and whatever the hell else she thinks she can do with a teeny tiny Matt the cat - Matt the cat will hiss - Daisy doesn't get it - Matt the cat will hiss a 2nd time - Daisy doesn't get it...Matt the cat will swat (without making contact) and Daisy STILL doesn't get it! And whe Matt the cat tries to sneak away...the moron Meat head follows!!! AUGH! I even took her to the dog park last night to run off some crazy - hoping it would settle her down but it has been a full week and she's still laser focussed on the freakin cat!! AUGH! I'm about ready to lose my mind! Maybe i could slip Daisy an ativan...?? spose that'd be bad??

Cuz we needed one more thing...
I'm sure that I'm a glutton for punishment - positive in fact. On Saturday, I made the mistake of taking Sophie to the SPCA to see all the kittens. The reason is that kittens are like little Kamakaze ankle ninja's that freak my kid out! I wanted her to be freaked out so that she'd get over her want for a furry little ball of bazurk and we could carry on our cat-free existence. Worked like a charm! She was totally freaked out and did NOT want a kitten - YAY!
Next - we went in to check out the grown up kitties. She always leaves asking for "a cat" but never a specific cat. She has never fallen for one particular cat...until now - drat! We went in to the back room and saw a mangled and scruffy half shaved white kitty with blue eyes and...he was calm and quiet and sweet and was all over her like a fat kid on smarties! Head butting and rubbing his face all over and wouldn't leave her alone. Crap! Since then - all she talked about was kitty - she was hooked and bad! Just to add to it...there's a very good possability that he's deaf. If not completely - mostly.
So far, his name is "Matt" cuz when he was brought in, he had a huge matt that took up over half his body and it was pulling the hair from his skin, so he was raw and scabbed over! poor kitty! They had to shave him and he just laid there and let them do it! He really is a very sweet boy. Very needy and clingy - but Sophia is totally in Love, and so...Matt is now part of the Pospolita Ranch...and Daisy is freaking out excited!!
Matt - is still undecided about Daisy :)
Matt - is still undecided about Daisy :)

How far would you go to have the summer off??
Would you undergo surgery?? How bout 2 surgeries?? Sound insane? Too far fetched for words? Yeah well - that's me! lol and that is the only way I'm going to get the summer off!
I have carpal tunnel in both hands. The right is worse then my left, but I need to have it fixed. Everything hurts more each day. Opening jars, opening doors, typing, driving, baking, crochet, creating in general...I need it to not hurt for a change, and so - the date for my right hand has been set to June 28th. My 2nd hand will be done a month later, which will also take a month to recover and there I will sit, with 2 freaky tan lines and more useless then I have ever been, (while still able to flip someone the bird) till the end of summer. I say - as long as I can hold a stiff drink (or reach the straw from my seated position) Bring it on! :)
I may be a little bit disturbed, but the jury is still out on that one. :)

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
What a gorgeous day out! I can't even believe how nice it is! It's the perfect degree of hot with a small breeze - ideal for hanging clothes on the line or mowing the lawn or getting all the yard work done that I've needed to for the last 6 weeks! (If I had a cottage, though, I'd totally spend it there and let the grass grow up to my ear lobes! :) The pool is filling, the back lawn is almost mowed and before the day is through, I'll have my day-lillies moved to the back yard. (yes - I know - it's bad to move them in this heat, but these lillies are tougher then boiled owls! lol They'll be angry with me for a few days, but they'll be fine :)
Tonight at 6:30, Soapy has her violin recital. She's super excited too!. We went dress shopping last night and I was amazed by 2 things. 1st - we found the most adorable dress at Walmart for $11!!!!! And 2nd...my baby girl who is a mere 8 years old, wears a ladies size 6 in shoes!!! (I'm less ready for that then I was for a teenager! :(
I've got high hopes for this weekend and so far - it's lookin good!
What do you have planned??

8 legs worth of creepy and cool!!!
I'm ebarassed to admit how badly my skin was crawling when I took this picture. This little bigger then I'm comfortable with guy crawled out from under my siding while I was quickly hosing away what was obviously his summer home! As super icky as he is - I have to admit that he's pretty cool! I have never seen a white spider before!! When I took this picture, I immediately became aware of 2 things. 1st...Spiders freak me out way more then I'm happy with, and 2...I really need to scruby my siding. The truth behind #2, though is that (for those of you who have never done so) whatever is lurking under your siding becomes a water propelled missile and is jettesoned out from behind the siding faster then Scotty can get the starship enterprise into warp speed! Picture it...a zillion marble sized - water propelled - torpedo spiders. *shudder* Yeah - that can totally wait till fall!!! :S

You can cram alot in a week!
Did you know that magicians don't sleep?? It's true! I have the pic to prove it! The impressive pic to the left was taken after 11pm one night, while kiddo was up late playing with her new magic kit! (My boss got it for her as a thank you for the flowers she planted for them. Thankfully, he chose a magic kit over a super-soaker! lol)
In other news...WE HAVE CABLE!!!!! Yup - it's true!! We've had it for a little over 2 weeks now and I have to say...there's never a darn thing on! :(
Yesterday, I went to see a plastic surgeon about the bump on my index finger. He did some funky tapping on the palm of my hand and it went pop-zing and hurt like heck! In fact, my hand has never hurt worse and has been extremely sore since! Anyway - he put me on the "urgent" list and is going to operate on the 28th of June to fix my carpal tunnel once and for all! I'm terrified! Me - sitting idle for at least 2 weeks!! This is going to be waaay worse then phneumonia!! :( But is has to be done. On that same note - it also meant I had to cancel 8 cake orders!! I sent them all to kdf creations, though - so hopefully it will work out for everyone :)
Today was very...ummm?? What's the word? Full! What a day! It started at 7:05am when Miss Soapy Sue drug her disney princess storage cart into my room and slammed it on the floor! She had a huge smile on her face and was trying to show me that she had tydied her room (by jamming everything into this giant pink rolly thing! ugh! I sent her upstairs to watch TV. I went back to bed and got to sleep in a little (as much as you can sleep in with the sound of Dumbo the freakin Saint-Bernard - flapping the crap out of her mutant ears!! ugh! ) Anyhoo - my alarm was set for 8:30 cuz I had to deliver a belly cake and a little crochet sumthin at noon. I started the cake by 9am and was done by 10:30ish. I love belly cakes - they go together sooooo fast! :) I also have to say that I will forever more only make fondant when it's not raining! (yeah sure - who am I kidding...I'll continue to make it in the rain and complain about the result.)
Once the cake was done, I was driven crazy enough by the flapping of Daisy ears to clean them. I officially know her head is empty, cuz I can fit a full 2oz bottle of ear cleaning solution into each ear canal and she doesn't even flinch - and I'm sure there's room for more, cuz nothing spills out either! Since we recovered from the liquid glacier ear cleaning solution adventure in January, she has been really great about her ears. Truth be told - the big meat head is growing on me. (shhhh! don't tell her!) Honestly, it's a real treat to be able to clean ears and clip a big dogs nails without even the smallest flinch! She really is a good girl. (this is the view from my computer chair...) She seems to be spending more and more time in my room. DH figures it's cuz she likes me most...I think it's cuz i finally cleaned my room and she has space to lay down! :)
Ok - back to today...I delivered the cake and the crochet thing at noon.
Isn't she sweet! The cake and bear are for the grand-baby in progress of a colleage and dear friend :) I'm so excited for her! She has 2 grown boys, but her grand baby (who is due in July) is a girl!! It's so cute because she is totally a boys Mom! She loves all things rugged and manly, loves boy colors, and boy games. It's not hard to tell she has been the only girl in the house! That said - I have no doubt she could take any one of them at the drop of a hat! :) I'm super tickled that she'll finally have some pink and girlie in her life! :) Needless to say - I knew this little bear would be the perfect companion for the new girlie addition to her family :)
After dropping of the cake, Maddie and I swung by the dollar store to pick up some trinkets to decorate stepping stones!! I had picked up square foil cake pans at the dollar store and a bag of concrete - took it home, mixed it up and we all decorated stepping stones for the back yard!! They're sooper cute! And I can't wait for them to dry so that we can put them in the ground! :) I needed something for around the pool and just couldn't justify paying $3+ per stone when a $6. bag of concrete will make almost 2 dozen!!!
I got DH's help mixing the concrete and put it all in pans. We spread it out on the deck and it become a stepping stone decorating free for all! :) (like the pic?? This would be the reason why I often stay behind the camera!) Yes - that's cake batter in my hair! lol
Now is the hard part...waiting for them to dry! :) I'm a little disappointed that the letter stamps didnt' work in them - but otherwise, I think they're super cute and can't wait to see them when they're done!
In the middle of all of this - DH made time to work on his bike. I'm super happy that he's had the chance cuz it makes him so happy. I wish he was feeling well enough to be able to do it more often. I'll keep tossing pennies into fountains, though, just in case :)
Now that I've managed to hop in the shower and wash off the grodies from the day, I'm about to start Nacho's for a late dinner! (this having a teenager thing is pretty cool cuz she's upstairs making Nachos for her and her sister! :)
and on that note, I hope that anyone who ever reads this had a terrific day and was able to enjoy some family fun and sunny sun :)
